HYPERHYDROSIS

Do you experience excessive sweating regularly? Your daily life can be disrupted if you are sweating through your clothing, feel excessive moisture in your hands and feet, or experience unwarranted night sweats. Reduce the frequency of sweating with botulinum toxin - commercially known as Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin - injections to block the nerves that trigger your sweat glands. For enhanced results, your skin expert may add Morpheus 8 to your treatment plan.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

What is hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating not related to heat or exercise. Your sweat glands can be overactive in producing too much sweat.

What causes hyperhidrosis?

Primary hyperhidrosis is caused by nerve signals that trigger eccrine sweat glands to become overactive. This can be hereditary with no medical cause. This usually affects the palms, soles of your feet, underarms, and face.

Secondary hyperhidrosis is caused by an underlying medical condition or from taking certain medications. This can cause sweating all over the body.

Is treatment safe?

Yes, botulinum toxin injections for hyperhidrosis is a safe procedure. You may experience short-term muscle weakness in the treated area due to the muscles relaxing. As with any medical procedure, there can be risks and potential side effects.

How much treatment is required?

You will need a consultation to determine what dosage is needed for your specific sweat production concerns.

What is the downtime for treatment?

The downtime after hyperhidrosis is typically minimal. Most people can resume their regular activities immediately after the procedure. Some temporary redness, swelling, or bruising may occur at the injection sites, but these effects are usually mild and subside within a few days.

How long will results last?

Botulinum toxin injections for hyperhidrosis can last 4-6 months. However, each patient’s needs will differ as the treatment subsides. To maintain results, follow-up treatments are recommended.
